I have had the personal experience of viewing sea turtles underwater and sleeping on land many times while at the beach in Kauai.
The Green sea turtle is the most common and has a lifespan of up to 100 years. They are federally protected and for good reason. They are threatened and on the verge of endangered.
They are Gorgeous giant creatures and the way they move is so graceful and peaceful.I can never see enough of them and love swimming in shallow water where they feed around the coral.
The most amazing part to me is seeing the gorgeous light penetrate the water from above and light them up with teal and aqua tones that reflect from the sunlight. This is my painted version of how they look in my mind.
My Youngest child loves them more than me and asked for a painting for her birthday. I have honestly never painted something that flowed so well and it is to date my favorite painting so far. Its so rare, but nice when you truly
stand back to see if you should change anything and think to yourself,” Nailed it “.
I am in the process of painting turtle #2 which will be the perfect companion piece to this one and intended for displaying side by side.
